A quick rundown of events: shopping in SF (union square), pier 39, tons of food (blondies, sufficient grounds, SUSHI, clam chowder, brazilian food- some of my faves), campus stroll at sunset, spending time with friends.... and the list goes on :)

nine days...

day nineintellectual red carpet

over the past four years, i've had the opportunity to meet/shake hands with/get signatures from/sit it classes with/ and listen to iconic men and women speak. all i can say is that this journey has been quite inspiring [and humbling]. i can only hope to one day contribute [at least half] of what these individuals have already accomplished in their respective fields. for those of you who disagree with the ideologies of some of these individuals, i hope you would still appreciate the fact that it's quite the opportunity to come into contact with world-renown figures. **by the way, if you don't recognize some of them, i recommend you look them up ;)

     jimmy carter book signing...

     ronald takaki...

     angela davis...

     dalai lama...

[i didn't want to overload this post with pics, so...] carlos muñoz, christopher gardner, julie chavez, and many, many more!

sotomayor.

Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is sworn in during her confirmation hearing before the Senate judiciary committee on Capitol Hill in Washington Monday. (George Bridges/Pool/Associated Press). uploaded by cbc news.

i know this is a lil late, but...

SOTOMAYOR!

she's the third female and first person of color [<--pronounced in Spanish] to serve as supreme court justice. regardless of your personal/political ideology, you gotta appreciate the historical implications of this moment.

keep your fist raised high.

welcome to the good life.

Times Square at Dusk, originally uploaded by Stuck in Customs.

Hello, World.

I'm Stacey. At the age of eight (more or less) I stood behind a 7-11 store counter waiting to pay for my cherry slurpee. It was a hot summer day and my mind was filled with thoughts of saturday morning cartoons, super nintendo tournaments, and pogs (yes, pogs!). Next thing I knew my slurpee cup laid on the floor while the frozen cherry drink seeped through my shoes. Me, I just stood there. Frozen. Unable to talk or move. The customer who stood behind me was now standing at my side, gun to my head and demanding that the cashier empty the register or else I'd pay the consequences. Not knowing what to do, I panicked and ran for the door. The focus immediately shifted to me. The gunman, caught off guard, turned in my direction, pointed and.... Well, okay. So maybe this didn't reeeally happen and I sortta made it all up (except for the part about saturday morning cartoons, super nintendo tournaments, and pogs). I guess i just figured that the best way to introduce myself was to share something that illustrated a little something about me... Mainly, that i'm a random person (: It's just who I am. Always off on tangents...

Anyway, I'm currently going through many transitions. I just graduated from college. I'm slaving away for the man (working the dreaded nine-to-five), I'm applying to grad school, and I'm making my way back down to SoCal. Despite all of this, it feels like the world is at my fingertips. I feel so humble and blessed to be where I am today. I guess the purpose of this blog is to have an outlet so that I never forget the journey or lose my sense of adventure.

Hope y'all enjoy this as much as I will.

Peace.
