uc walkouts: speaking truth to power.

today was a historic day for california's uc system. thousands of students, faculty, and staff stood in solidarity against the privatization of our public universities and against soaring tuition fees. to emphasize the injustice and inequality of this situation, a leaflet handed out at the ucberkeley campus read:

"Annually the state pays $49,000 per prison inmate and less than $14,000 per UC student. If the state can lock us up, it can invest in our education for one-third of the cost."

mad props to everyone who participated in the walk-out. i leave you with an image of uc berkeley's sproul plaza.
